The bass starts the intro, and then the guitar kicks in with some harmonics.
The harmonics are noted (like this) and for those of you who don’t know, to
play a harmonic you place your fingers over the string without actually
pressing down…just let your finger float on top of the string and strum the chord.
Another thing about harmonics is that your finger has to be placed right on the
fret divider (whatever its called). Listen to the song and do what you can with this. Intro: e|--------------------------------------------------------------| B|--------------------------------------------------------------| G|------------------------------------(9)(9)-(9)(9)---—-(9)-----| D|--(5)(5)-(5)(5)---(9)(9)(9)(9)(9)---(9)(9)-(9)(9)—----(9)6xs--| A|--(5)(5)-(5)(5)---(9)(9)(9)(9)(9)---(7)(7)-(7)(7)—----(7)-----| E|--(3)(3)-(3)(3)---(7)(7)(7)(7)(7)-----------------------------| Play a few times and slide down frets still doing harmonics^ Chorus: “Thanks, thanks for nothing…” e|----------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------| G|------------------------9-9-9-9---7-7--5--4---| D|--5-5-5-55---9-9-9-99---9-9-9-9---7-7--5--4---| A|--5-5-5-55---9-9-9-99---7-7-7-7---5-5--3--2---| E|--3-3-3-33---7-7-7-77-------------------------| The same thing is played for the verses except the chords are palm
muted or muffled and played around with at times…just listen to the song and
you’ll know what to do. ”look at you now, remember how you gave me shit…” e|----------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------| G|------------------------9-9-9-9---7-7--5--4---| D|--5-5-5-55---9-9-9-99---9-9-9-9---7-7--5--4---| A|--5-5-5-55---9-9-9-99---7-7-7-7---5-5--3--2---| E|--3-3-3-33---7-7-7-77-------------------------| The Chorus is repeated again, and then the second verse. The Chorus
a third time, then the solo. Still the same chords for both the chorus and the
verses. I decided to start the solo in 10th position though it can be played in
different places. Solo: e|------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------| G|------------------------------------------------| D|----------------------9---------9---------------| A|--/10---10-12------12---12---12---------------9-| E|--------------12-------------------10--10--12---| Slide^ e|---------------------------------10-10-8-----------| B|-------10------10-12-10---10-12-----------12--8----| G|--12--------9--------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------| After the solo the chorus is played a last time and that’s it!
Great song, I hope this helps a little.
